Seasonal Affective Disorder is no laughing matter. Here in Ohio, we’re all well-acquainted with the winter doldrums, especially in contrast to the vibrant festival-filled summers that spoil us each year. In February of 2017, The Werks sought to provide fans a reprieve from their cabin fever with the annual Winter Werk Out, an indoor re-imagining of their long-running summer staple fest (2019 will mark the 10th Werk Out, and it promises to be their biggest production to date).
Hosted in the heart of downtown Columbus at The Bluestone, a re-purposed 121-year-old church with fantastic acoustics, Winter Werk Out 2019 will welcome Emancipator, EOTO, Tropidelic, Zach Deputy, Consider The Source, LITZ, and more. The Werks will be making a 2-night headlining stand. Winter Werk Out represents the first hometown shows of their ongoing Sonder Tour in support of their newest album of the same name. They plan to tour the country heavily this year as they release Sonder in its entirety over the first 3 quarters of 2019, to be available on disc in time for The Werk Out. Part one, Encounters, was dropped in early January and is available on Spotify and at their Bandcamp. This year promises to be huge for The Werks.
In addition to Winter Werk Out at the Bluestone, an official Pre-Party featuring a special Radiohead tribute by New York’s Consider The Source will be held at Brothers Drake Meadery in Columbus. Hometown heroes Conscious Pilot open the night with a tribute to the rock of the 70’s.
A warm clothing drive is being held all three nights – winter clothing for adults and children will be accepted at both venues. Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation for local shelters!
