During what is sure to be an eventful weekend in the Ohio area for music, Laniakea Transformational Arts Festival will be making its debut in just a month, setting itself apart by putting a big emphasis on both art and community. Though the amount of scheduled music is already enough to look forward to, it’s hard not to be impressed by the amount of effort that went into creating a diverse lineup of artists and workshop presenters.
Taking its name from the Hawaiian term “immeasurable heaven”, Laniakea will be working towards having a luau theme throughout the whole weekend, perfect for bridging the two ideas of fun and unity together. By focusing on creating as much interaction as possible between attendees and the festival through workshops and live art, Laniakea will be showing what it means for an event to be “transformational” in its own special way.
From popular acts like Particle and The Magic Beans, to local favorites such as Sassafraz and Peridoni, there be a huge variety of music to keep everyone entertained throughout the entire weekend. Recently announced artist at large Freekbass will be sitting in with bands all day on Saturday, though other surprise collaborations amongst acts definitely wouldn’t be out of the question.
Laniakea will be held on September 9th through the 11th at Hannon’s Camp America near Oxford, Ohio. Ticket information and up to date news about the festival can be found at www.laniakeafestival.com.
