Sleepy Creek Presents has been bringing us plenty of amazing festivals this festival season, like Spring Dig in May, and Brokedown Floatdown in July. To cap off the season this fall, they are bringing us Harfest, an October celebration Oct 6th-9th, with friends at Sleepy Creek on the Potomac in Berkeley Springs, WV.
The lineup always brings some of the best mid-level talent in the genres of jam, bluegrass, funk, and more, with bluegrass being the most prominent. This is probably due to the influence of Brokedown Hustlers’ member Danny Moore curating the lineup and creating the vision for Sleepy Creek Presents events since the beginning. This perfect mash-up of bands that aren’t too big, but not too small, not just local, but not just national, lends to a musical lineup full of favorites and new bands to discover.
This year’s lineup includes Big Something, People’s Blues of Richmond, Dangermuffin, Driftwood, and many more. I am excited to see Shepherdstown band The Fox Hunt take the stage, as well as Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers, National Headliner, and more bluegrass bands that have made their mark on the current bluegrass scene. There is only one stage, so you don’t have to worry about overlapping sets, but there is plenty of late night picking for the night owls.
Whether it is the family campground venue, or the family of friends that not only help make Harfest happen, but return for every festival, there is certainly a palpable vibration to any Sleepy Creek Presents event. I know that I will always see plenty of familiar faces, make new friends, deepen relationships, and sip on a fair share of moonshine being passed around.
You are able to camp with your car at this venue, and the event is BYOB. There will be a campground for the kids, food and craft vendors, and a water pump to fill your water bottle. You can view more festival details here on their website, and you still have time to get $65 pre-sale tickets before September 30th!
