Beast Coast Reggae Festival
Oct 14-16, 2016, Fairplay, MD
By James Shartzer
From the fantastic folks at 33 Eyez who blessed us with Bless the Woods this year comes Beast Coast Reggae Family Campout. The party is happening at the beautiful Woodmen of the World campground located in Fairplay, MD, which some may recognize as the venue for BTW. The festival begins Friday, October 14th and concludes Sunday, October 16th. The plan for the weekend is to kick off Friday night with a campfire jam session with local reggae dealers Secondhand. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring their drums, guitars, didgeridoos, and everything in between to contribute to the music.
On Saturday the live music is to begin at 1:00 PM with reggae acts from all up and down the east coast. The day & night are sure to be filled funky beats and psychedelic grooves from bands such as Bumpin’ Uglies from Annapolis, MD and Close To Consideration from Mechanicsburg, PA. They even have Elusive Groove coming from North Carolina. There will be plenty of local talent as well with Secondhand from Hagerstown, MD and Edjacated Phools from Baltimore, MD. There won’t just be music to dazzle and amuse you, 5th Street Elements, a troupe of fire performers, will be gracing us with a performance from 11:00 PM to midnight on Saturday. A hoop workshop hosted by Inner Plane Hoop Shop will also be taking place around noon Saturday.
Given that fall is now upon us, we aren’t left to bask in the scorching summer sun, but that also means it is getting colder, which means it is time to bundle up. Although there will be plenty of hanging around by the campfires, you won’t want to forget to pack warm! Beast Coast Reggae Family Campout is just that, a family campout. It will be a time for everyone to come together and celebrate what makes us human, but also to live & laugh and let us forget the world for a little bit; a place to see old friends and make some new ones. Tickets are 40$ presale and 60$ at the gate. So come on out for a weekend of good vibes and great music at Beast Coast Reggae Fest.
