If you haven’t heard of Sleepy Creek presents events in Berkeley Springs, WV, then where have you been? It seems like Sleepy Creek events came out of nowhere and garnered a following of family love from the very start. Spring Dig, happening May 4-7, 2017, is in only its third year, but is already an understood on my festival schedule. I am guaranteed to start my festival season in the friendly Sleepy Creek Campground for an early Spring stomp.
The festival grounds are also campgrounds that serve as a home or vacation spot for members year round, and combined with the family-friendly vibe, make for a varied crowd. Like many small festivals, camping is never situated too far away, and the BYOB event allows you to carry your own beverages throughout the venue. RV’s and campers are also allowed, please read the website for rules.
The musical lineup is full of national and local acts, most of the bluegrass and folk variety. This year’s Spring Dig is headlined by Jamwich favorite Larry Keel Experience, Cornmeal, and hometown heroes Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. Many bands are beloved by the community such as The Woodshedders, The Plate Scrapers, and of course Brokedown Hustlers, and tons of different flavors are thrown in, including the roots folk looping artist Mateo Monk.
The festival will feature live artists, merch vendors, a free hoop flow workshop, yoga workshop with Lisa Glassman, and a hoop jam! They will also be collecting donations to go towards the Humane Society of Morgan County West Virginia. If you donate $5 at the gate, you will be entered to win two free tickets to The Brokedown Floatdown on July 22, 2017.
We hope to see you there! Online Ticket Sales End at Midnight on Sunday April 30th. Tickets can only be purchased during the event at Gate Prices after the 30th. Get your tickets NOW and don’t delay.
