This Saturday, October 28, in Washington, DC, Void Life records is presenting a Halloween experience like no other. In a fully immersive evening of spooky costumes, decorations, and music, you’ll have the night of your life! Which is good…because it may just be your last. We’ve put together this itinerary for the haunted Halloween evening.
The night begins at Union Station at 6:30PM. The mass of freaks will congregate, so just look for the group of well dressed spooks. You’ll want to show up early for this portion of the evening, because the first 100 people get a free drink ticket for use at the Rock n Roll Hotel!
The attendees will then be led out of Union Station to H Street at 6:45PM, joining a terrifying parade led by Dirty Gold Brass Band! That’s right, you get to strut your stuff down the streets behind the sounds of funky horns. You can choose to continue to follow the band, or hop on the decorated streetcar for a haunted ride down to Rock n Roll Hotel.
Rock n Roll Hotel’s doors open for the show at 7:30PM, so if you’re unable to make the parade you can still show up for the party. Music starts at 8PM and goes until midnight. Rock n Roll Hotel will also be decorated for the occasion, disguised cleverly as a funeral home just in time for all the lovely corpses to enter its doors.
The parade is free, but the show at Rock n Holl hotel costs a small fee of $12, and the event is all ages. There will be multiple bands playing to get those bones shaking, including Navi (goes to hell), Humbalaya (as KC and the Sunshine Band), Tomato Dodgers (coming fresh off the boat from their Asia tour!), and hometown heroes Of Tomorrow.
Besides the bands, there will be performances from Mockapella of UMD, performing a special set of satanic lullabies, The Void’s Annual Halloween Hymnal, multimedia installations by Antihero, a “squadron of devilish cohorts (sexy ones, too),” a costume contest with prizes, and The Void’s Haunted House! One of the costume contest prizes is a beautiful handcrafted guitar, so be sure to dress to impress. All this scaring can make a person hungry, so don’t forget to stop by the buffet of “ghastly delights, entrails, and other fun edible parts.”
