What’s Up Weekly: November 27-December 03, 2017

This week is music starts off with a performance from Dead & Company at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC. Fall tour began earlier in November and roars on through December 8th . After Monday night’s performance, the band will play six more concerts before taking a short break in anticipation for their three shows in Riviera Maya, Mexico. If for whatever reason your unable to make it to any of the shows, there are several Grateful Dead tribute bands with shows that can help you find the groovy tunes you’re looking for. Dark Star Orchestra is playing four shows this week: 11/29-30 in Richmond, VA, 12/01 in Norfolk, VA, and 12/02 in Washington D.C. Also, Steal Your Face will be playing at the Trocadero in Philly this Friday.

As November draws to a close and December comes sweeping in, Phish fans across the nation begin to bubble with anticipation for the beloved New Year’s Eve MSG run. If the excitement is too much to contain, and if the prospect of listening to your entire four-terabyte  external hard drive of live concerts for the third time this year seems a bit daunting, check out some of the Jazz is Phsh shows this week to help calm your nerves. Jazz is Phsh is an instrumental tribute band made up of a collective of many well-renowned musicians. The project was founded in 2015 by Adam and Matthew Chase and was inspired by the Grateful Dead cover band, Jazz is Dead. The band’s unique approach to Phish’s music creates an experience both familiar and fresh and is something definitely worth experiencing. This week also features a three-night run hosted by Pink Talking Phish in Columbus, Ohio at the Woodlands Tavern. Three iconic bands, three nights, six sets, endless possibilities! Come make new friends and listen to the jammiest of jams.

Jackie Greene will be performing a solo acoustic set this week at the intimate Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock, NY. Jackie has toured with bands like Ratdog, Phil Lesh and Friends, and Gov’t Mule, as well as played at festivals such as Wakarusa, Gathering of the Vibes, Mountain Jam, and All Good. If you’re looking for something more low-key and in a cozy venue, this performance will suit you perfectly.
