Twiddle is returning to their home state of Vermont July 28 & 29, 2018, for the third annual Tumble Down music festival hosted at the Waterfront Park in Burlington, Vermont. Twiddle is giving us four amazing sets along with a fantastic lineup including Matisyahu, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Ripe, Billy Strings, Broccoli Samurai, Ripe, GEM featuring Mihali Savoulidis, Grahame Lesh, Elliott Peck, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, Pappy and Frends, West End Blend, Eggy, Brickdrop, Doctor Rick, 2%, Adventure Dog, Everyone Orchestra, Kitchen Dwellers, Hayley Jane and the Primates, and Formula 5. While you may be familiar with some of the headlining bands, there is also plenty of new music to catch from some up-and-coming acts. Below we’ve got some information to help you discover some of the lesser-known bands attending the festival.
Adventure Dog
Adventure Dog is a very new band playing for only a little over a year. They consider their genre a mix of funk, soul, and rock n roll. Adventure Dog has just released an EP called The Dog House which you can find on Spotify, Apple Music, bandcamp, etc.They also put a lot of effort into ensuring their live shows are always new and exciting! They’re big fans of 70’s rock and funk. Their biggest overall influence is definitely Steely Dan. They also really like Billy Joel and Stevie wonder.
Eggy
This funky crunchadelic band is made up of the four groovy members Michael Goodman (bass/vocals), Jake Brownstein (guitar/vocals), Dani Battat (keys/vocals) and Alex Bailey (drums/vocals). These musicians blend together a vast variety of styles inspired by their musical heroes. They are the perfect group to start you morning musical meal.
Formula 5
Formula 5 consists of Joe Davis, Greg Marek, James Woods and Matt Richards. They are from the Capital Region of New York. They are influenced by jam bands, jazz legends and classic rock. They have played alongside Twiddle, Tauk, Dopapod, and more. Formulas 5 is sure to pull you in with their amazing instrumentation and spectacular improvisational skills.
Brickdrop
Brickdrop is a Vermont-based jazz fusion group comprised of Ben Bivins (guitar), Billy Comstock (bass), Rob DeBruyn (tenor sax), Matt “Dolly” Dolliver (alto/bari sax), Cotter Ellis (drums), and Nate Reit (trombone). These jazz cats mix the classic jazz and funk styles with a more contemporary feel as well. Playing alongside artists like Big Mean Sound Machine, Nth Power, Soul Monde, and more these soulful players are sure to take you away.
Waterfront Park is located west of downtown along the Lake Champlain Shoreline. They have hosted many music and food festivals such as the Grand Point North Festival and the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival. The Burlington Bike Path runs alongside the eastern border. While listening to music you can explore the area and visit the community boathouse, the echo museum, and the Lake Champlain Sailing Center.
