This weekend marks the ninth annual Festy Experience at Infinity Downs in Arrington, Virginia. Come hang out with like-minded folk, and listen to great music from awesome bands like Greensky Bluegrass, Fruition, Rubblebucket, Sam Bush Band, Gillian Welch, Railroad Earth, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, plus many more! Don’t worry about bringing your young ones; extensive family planning and programming ensure that people of all ages can have fun. Arts & crafts, workshops, storytelling, nature walks and other activities will keep your kids busy all weekend. Stop by The Wellness Zone for yoga, massages, acupuncture, slacklining, or just to find a cozy hammock to relax in. 5k and 10k trail runs will be taking place over the weekend, sign up for $20 if you’d like to participate. Also, disc golf fans, don’t forget to bring your discs; a full course is at your disposal if you wish to play a round or few. Come one, come all to the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance this weekend at Shakori Hills in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Scheduled performers included Lettuce, Donna the Buffalo, Locos Por Juana, Consider the Source, Hayley Jane and the Primates, The Phyrg, and many more! Make sure to stop by and chat with the several advocacy groups who will have booths set up on-site, so that you can learn about what is happening in the surrounding communities. Shakori Hills will be implementing a “no public display of alcohol” policy; feel free to B.Y.O.B., but please respect the rules that are in place. Bring plenty of plastic cups, just don’t forget to recycle them when you’re done! Weekend admission is set at $115, with youth passes going for $59 (under 12 enter for free). Tent camping is $15 in advance, $20 at the gate, with family/quiet camping areas available on a first come, first serve basis. Parking is $10 for the weekend, unless you carpool with four or more (then it’s free).
