Daylight savings time is in effect, and that means long, cold nights are surely ahead. Fight the darkness and despair with pretty lights and sounds at your favorite local venue or concert hall! There are tons of great concerts happening all over the Midwest, as well as up and down the East coast, and we have some great suggestions for you. Here’s what’s up.
Not a fan of the cold? Then pack your bags and plan a warm, weekend getaway at Zen Awakening in Wildwood, Florida. Held on Forever Florida, an enormous eco-ranch and wildlife preserve, you are guaranteed to get the dose of nature that you’re looking for. Enjoy live DJ’s & jam bands, yoga, 100 acres of nature, meditation, spiritual & holistic teachers, cirque performers, flow dancers and much more! Scheduled musical acts include Desert Dwellers, Antennae, Dixon’s Violin, Emalkay, Govinda and other great bands as well. Tons of workshops will be offered throughout the weekend so that you can leave the festival more enlightened than when you arrived. Get schooled in qigong, yoga & meditation, permaculture, sacred geometry, self-mastery, raising your frequency, spiritual awakening, flow arts and more. Festival organizers please ask that attendees please bring non-perishable food items for the ‘strangers helping strangers’ volunteer initiative. Donations will be used help less fortunate families this Thanksgiving. Weekend passes for the events are going for $177 in advance, with gate prices being $222. $20 will also be collected for parking. Kids under 12 enter for free with a paying adult.
Need a pickin’ good bluegrass fix? The boys from The Infamous Stringdusters have you covered this week. Check them out with support from The Way Down Wanderers, a 5-piece Illinois-based American group with a youthful, energetic feel and rapidly growing, loyal fan base. Check them out this Tuesday (11/13) at The Metropolitan Theatre in Morgantown, WV, Wednesday (11/14) at Center for The Arts of Homer in Homer, NY, Thursday (11/15) at Gramercy Theatre in New York, NY, Friday (11/16) at The Jefferson Theatre in Charlottesville, VA and Saturday (11/17) at Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, NC.
Don’t miss out on the chance to fly with the flock for two nights in a row: join Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA this Friday and Saturday. Friday night, start off your night with a set from Hayley Jane & The Primates, Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers will be on site for support on Saturday. Don’t forget your wings at home.
