Welcome to a new week, readers; one that marks the transition out of January, and into February. That means it’s time to pack the local venues and theatres once again, as many of our favorite bands are back on the grind to promote their art and spread the good vibes. No plans this week? Everyone’s favorite, funky, feathered quartet, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, joins forces with The Fritz in order to bring the boogie to stage near you. The Fritz is a five-piece soul driven, dance-rock band from Asheville, NC that has no problem getting the party stared. Drawing influence from Prince, Talking Heads, Jimi Hendrix and similar artists, it’s no wonder their music makes the people want to move. See this dynamic duo perform this week at Jefferson Theatre in Charlottesville, VA (01/30), The NorVa in Norfolk, VA (01/31), The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC (02/01), and Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, Nc (02/02)

Want a break from the spacey jams and special effects? Get back to your roots with some pickin’ good bluegrass and folk music this week with some of these great artists. Greensky Bluegrass takes the stage with Billy Strings for a series of shows this week at State Theatre in Portland, ME (01/29), House of Blues in Boston, MA (01/30), Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA (01/31), and a two-night run at The Anthem in Washington D.C. (02/01-02). Yonder Mountain String band and Handmade Moments provide the groove at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC (01/31), Haw River Ball Room in Saxapahaw, NC (02/01). Catch The Dirty Grass Players at The Purple Fiddle in Thomas, WV (02/01) and Steiner’s Speakeasy in Chillicothe, OH (02/02). Last but not least, head over to Stanley’s Pub in Cincinnati, OH for an evening with The Restless Leg String Band (02/01).

Greensky Bluegrass @ DelFestJust a few days left to secure your tickets, and get yourself ready for The Winter Werkout at The Bluestone this Friday and Saturday in Columbus, OH. The Werks, Emancipator, EOTO, Tropidelic, Zach Deputy, LITZ, Consider the Source and many more great bands will descend upon central Ohio for two evenings of out-of-this-world fun and shenanigans.
