What’s Up Weekly – Feb 18-24 – Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime, Grateful Shred, Keller Williams & more!

Hello, Readers!  Snow continues to fall throughout much of the Midwest and East Coast, but there are plenty of good vibes all around to help keep your spirits high as we keep on truckin’ through this last leg of winter.  This week enjoy tasty jams from the likes of Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime, Grateful Shred, Keller Williams and many more! Here’s what’s up.

 

The boys from Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime are putting some miles on the tour bus this week with five different shows in three different states.  Touring with the band are very special guests Roots of Creation, and Bumpin Uglies, to help keep the reggae vibe while maintaining high energy levels with their rock and punk influences, respectively.  Roots of Creation leans towards the Reggae/Rock Dubtronica Hybrid, and Bumpin Uglies takes the traditional ska/reggae sound and infuses it with punk-rock overtones and strong lyrics.  Join this trio of amazing bands this week at The Rex Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA (02/19), Bogarts in Cincinnati, OH (02/20), Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH (02/21), House of Blues in Cleveland, OH (02/22), Town Ballroom in Buffalo, NY(02/23), and Westcott Theatre in Syracuse, NY (02/24)

Los Angeles based Grateful Dead cover band, Grateful Shred, leave the warmth of the West Coast for string of shows in our neck of the woods.  The band formed almost accidentally when guitarist/singer Austin McCutchen called upon his housemates to play some Dead covers for a gig while the rest of his usual band was out of town on vacation.  Requests to play other venues quickly came in, and the rest was history.  The band features McCutchen, as well as Sam Blasucci and Clay Finch, on guitar and vocals.  Dan Horne plays the bass, with keyboardists and drummers changing from time to time.  Check them out this week at The Haunt in Ithaca, NY (02/19), Flour City Station in Rochester, NY (02/20), Buffalo Iron Works in Buffalo, NY (02/21), and Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, OH.  If you’re up for a drive this weekend, consider checking them out in Ferndale, MI on Friday and Chicago, IL this Saturday.

Few are better at spreading the good vibes than the man with a plan, and one-man band, Keller Williams.  Williams’ music is infectiously happy, and perfect for combating the dreariness that is often associated with the cold of winter.  Gather a few of your friends and find out where he is playing that is nearest to you. This week you can find him at Harvester Performance Center in Rocky Mount, VA (02/21), Club XL Live in Harrisburg, PA (02/22), and Tally Ho Theatre in Leesburg, VA (02/23).
