Greetings, readers! Here at The Jamwich we’ve got you covered with a weekly compilation of what we think are the hottest concerts and other related events going down throughout the region. No plans this week? No Problem! Here’s what’s up.
This is your last chance to grab tickets to one of this summer’s most anticipated music and camping experiences, Domefest. Ticket sales are ending this Thursday, the 15th. The event is being held all weekend long, from the 16th through the 18th at Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV, and is hosted by everyone’s favorite funky pheasants, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Other musicians that will grace the stage include Aqueous, Magic Beans, LITZ, Mungion, Goose, The Fritz, West End Blend and others. Tickets for the weekend are going for $135, with primitive camping and parking included in the ticket price. Kids 4-12 are $20 (cash only @ the gate), and anyone younger than that can enter for free. Domefest has partnered with Zero Waste Event Productions to help reduce the festival’s carbon footprint, so please pick up after yourself and dispose of any garbage or recyclable in the appropriate bins. Don’t forget: “There’s no place like DOME!”
Hookahville 51 returns this week to the Brushy Fork Phamily Ranch in Newark, Ohio. The party starts this Friday and continues all through the weekend, with early arrival being available on Thursday for an extra $25. Ticket prices are set at $75 if you purchase in advance, and $90 at the gate. Camping and parking is included in the ticket prices, however, if you’d like to camp next to your car be ready to fork over an extra $35 (per car). Get ready for live sets from ekoostik hookah, Freekbass, Glostik Willy, The Ark Band, JP and The Chatfield Boys, The Tenants, Mudhouse Gang and several other awesome bands. With 51 festivals under their belts, these people know how to get down! See you on the ranch!
Everyone’s favorite Grateful Dead cover band, Darkstar Orchestra has a couple of treats for the fans this week. The group starts off the week with a two-night run at The Hamilton in Washington, DC on Monday and Tuesday. A quick pit-stop in Red Bank, NJ for a show on Thursday will bring the band a step closer to New York, where they will settle down for another two-night run, this time at Capitol Theatre in Port Chester for Friday and Saturday night. Get your tickets before they are all sold out!
Other notable performances this week include: Escaper w/ Pleasure Train @ Gypsy Sally’s in Washington, DC (05/16), Keller Williams @ Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis, MD (05/16), Splintered Sunlight w/ Brown Sugar @ Ardmore Music Hall in Philadelphia, PA (05/17), and David Crosby at Brevard Music Center in Brevard, NC (05/18).
