Thanksgiving is a holiday that is steeped in tradition: turkey and mashed potatoes, family gatherings, football, pumpkin pie, and Twiddle! For the third year in a row, the Vermont-based quartet is hosting Frendsgiving, their annual Thanksgiving run at the historic Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY November 29-30. Aqueous is also on the bill for both nights, setting us up for a weekend of incredible music.
The Capitol Theatre, built in 1926, is rich in history and stunning architectural detail, making it a musical milestone for bands and fans alike. While it first opened as a movie theater, the Cap morphed into a concert venue at the peak of the 1970’s psychedelic era. Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, and the Grateful Dead are among artists to have made history on the stage.
Past Frendsgivings have brought fans wild light shows, new twists on old favorites, and sit-ins by special guests. Previous artists to have joined in on the Frendsgiving fun include Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, Kitchen Dwellers, Eric Krasno Band, and Shira Elias. To the delight of the audience, Twiddle always seems to bring an infectious energy to their holiday run, making it one of the anticipated shows of the year.
This year, the excitement for Frendsgiving is building, as fans are wondering what the boys have up their sleeve this time. Aqueous’s high-energy and psychedelic jams will undoubtedly exhilarate the audience to kick things off. Twiddle loves to invite their friends to sit-in with them, so the potential for collaborations between both bands, and perhaps a surprise guest or two, is also something to that is sure to create some unforgettable moments.
Adding to the spirit of giving and friendship, will be the drop of the “Frankenfoote Coloring Book” to support the White Light Foundation. The charity ran a contest during which fans submitted black and white scenes of the beloved Twiddle character. The winners are being compiled into a coloring book available for purchase at the merch table and proceeds will be going directly to children’s programs around the country. There will also be a canned good drive, benefiting a local food bank.
Frendsgiving 2019 is sure to give attendees some incredible performances and surprise moments. Once again, Twiddle has planned a weekend that not only provides live music for their audience, but also a space for fans to gather as a community, radiating gratitude and kindness. After all, isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about?
