The 2022 festival season is currently underway! Lineups are being announced, tickets are going on sale, and fans are ready to get back to the various summer sheds, mountains, fields, and forests that host some of our favorite events. From big to small, from jam to electronic to bluegrass, 2022 is shaping up to be a great year!
One of our personal favorite events here at The Jamwich, Electric Forest, is returning after a 2 year COVID layoff. 2020 was scheduled to be their 10th anniversary event (the 2 Rothbury festivals notwithstanding), and they’re moving that celebration to 2022. This is a very EDM-heavy event, although there are always some other gems hanging around in the Forest. Jam fans will appreciate the usual 3 String Cheese Incident shows along with bands like The Disco Biscuits, Lotus, Lettuce, Sunsquabi, Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, The Nth Power, and others. On top of that you’re gonna get some of the biggest heavy-hitters in the various electronic and dance genres. Griz returns, Louis the Child will be there, Big Gigantic is back, Liquid Stranger, Subtronics, Fantastic Negrito, and so many others. This is a festival built on diversity, variety, and the awesome location and forest. The Jamwich hopes to be there once again in 2022, and I hope we can see you there!
Summer Camp also released their initial lineup! This festival traditionally leans more into the Jam world with a decent amount of other stuff sprinkled in for variety. Umphrey’s McGee and moe. will do 3 shows each as usual. On top of that the festival already announced some big names, including Smashing Pumpkins, Little Feat performing Waiting For Columbus, and Liquid Stranger. The lineup is gonna fill out nicely I’m sure, so keep this on your radar!
MerleFest will be back hosting some great bluegrass! Greensky Bluegrass will be at that one (and touring on a new album, be ready for that to drop!) Sam Bush Band, Emmylou Harris, Peter Rowan, Jerry Douglas, and many, many others are already announced. If you’re looking for something a little more folky and grassy, this is a great one to check out!
Of course lineups are always being announced and adjusted. Hookahville will be back over Memorial Day weekend with 3 nights of ekoostik hookah, along with Papadosio, Dopapod, Glostik Willy and others. Rooster Walk will return to Virginia with an initial lineup of Little Feet, Tab Benoit, Andy Frasco & The UN, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, and many others. The Earl Scruggs Music Festival will of course host some amazing bluegrass artists including Sam Bush Band, The Earls of Leicester, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and others. And Peach will be back in 2022, although no artists are announced just yet.
There’s no excuse not to catch some great live music in 2022! We’ll continue updating you on lineup announcements and dates. Stay groovy!
