The Resolvers will release both a prequel and sequel to their hit breakout record, Big Band Reggae, on July 15th giving fans a panoramic view of the evolution of the 10-piece powerhouse reggae/funk/soul
Nate’s House, recorded in 2010 at the home of The Resolver’s then drummer, documents the experiment of adding a horn section and dense vocal harmonies to an already popular local reggae act. Like a caterpillar entering its cocoon, what emerged from the session was something more magnificent than they could have imagined and reverting back was not an option. After rolling out the expanded format in the live setting to tremendous response and releasing the sound defining Big Band Reggae in 2012, The Resolvers went right back into the studio to maintain the momentum and record the follow up, Bigger is Better…which is another defining statement in itself.
As history notes, Bunny Rugs of Third World once described his band’s identity to Billboard as…”Strictly a reggae band? No. Definitely a reggae band? Yes.” Much like how Thrid World mixed pop and soul with more traditional reggae sounds, The Resolvers mix their Jamaican Roots upbringing with their jazz, funk and soul schooling. Siblings Ojay and Sahara Smith (son and daughter of Jamaican reggae artist Ernie Smith) exchange lead vocal roles with Israeli born bandleader and guitarist Ron Eisner while their rock-solid rhythm section and the “Dirty Hamsa Horn Stars” set the pace.
Nate’s House and Bigger is Better will both be available on most digital download and streaming sites and on CD as of July 15, 2014.
In support of the new albums, The Resolvers have also announced an eight-night Record Release Tour of the Southeast US with California-based roots-reggae artists Groundation.
