It’s another exciting week for The Jamwich, and there are plenty of opportunities to go see live music. This week grab your date for Valentine’s or celebrate National Singles Day — what’s great is that in the world of live music, you really don’t have to be attached to have fun.

You will not want to miss the LITZ album release parties happening this Friday and Saturday at The 8×10. They’ll be debuting their new live album filled with the best cuts from the past year, bringing in special guests Funk You and Of Tomorrow, as well as a horn section for a couple of songs. We will repeat ourselves here — this is NOT a set of shows that you can afford to miss.

Papadosio continues to tour in the region this week with a show this Thursday at The Westcott Theatre in Syracuse, New York.  The band will also be playing several shows nearby in Portland, ME, Burlington, VT, and Cambridge, MA, throughout the week. Continuing to tour with Papadosio is the up and coming groove-rock band Aqueous.  These shows are a great display of music, fine arts, and culture that you won’t want to miss out on. Find your tickets now.

BIG Something (Photo by Roger Gupta)

BIG Something is also touring in a town near you including Syracuse, NY, February 14th, Philly on the 15th, The Rex Theater in Pittsburgh on the 16th, 123 Pleasant Street in Morgantown, WV, on the 17th, and then Columbus, OH on this Sunday the 18th. .  These North Carolina jam darlings are kings of the feel-good tune and are shaking up the music scene with their own events including a second The Big What event in April taking place in venues in Wilmington, NC.  Don’t sleep on getting your tickets for these shows, because they are all in danger of selling out.

Trey Anastasio’s solo acoustic winter tour kicked off last Thursday in Morristown, WV and continues this week with several shows in the area.  Anastasio will be in Pittsburgh, PA on Monday, Washington D.C. on Wednesday, Durham, NC on Friday, and Charlotte, NC on Saturday.  Trey’s solo acoustic shows offer a nice change of pace from the high energy Phish concerts that the guitarist is known for.  The solo acoustic shows feature simpler, stripped down versions of Phish fan favorites, Trey’s more intimate guitar arraignments, and stories about the musician’s career and experiences. All shows are currently sold out on Anastasio’s official website. If you’d like to attend one or more of these performances, you’ll need to start your search for a ticket as soon as possible.

Marcus King Band

Umphrey’s McGee will be playing a few shows in the area this week with The Marcus King Band, including new Washington DC venue The Anthem on Thursday February 15.  Umphrey’s McGee is one of the premiere jam band touring at the moment, and now their act includes an opening performance by the extremely talented Marcus King and his band.

King was born in South Carolina and was raised on the blues, playing shows with his father, Marvin King, whilst growing up. The Marcus King band released their first album in 2015 and have since become a force to be reckoned with.  Come see some fresh new talent, as well a veteran jam band for an unforgettable evening of music! Umphrey’s will also be headlining The Whigfest Music & Arts Festival in Tampa, Florida this Sunday.  The band will be celebrating 20 years of playing music together, and will be performing two sets during the evening.  There will be a host of other talent for you to enjoy throughout the night, including The Heavy Pets, Stokeswood, and Uncle John’s Band.  Whigfest is a great mixture of both National and Local talent, and is definitely an event worth attending.

Other notable performances this week include: Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC (02/16, 02/17), Galactic at the Fillmore Philadelphia (02/16), and Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, NY (02/17), and Snarky Puppy at Crowbar in Tampa, FL (02/17) and The Fillmore Silver Spring in Silver Spring, MD (02/18).
