Wanyama
Wanyama presents the second annual Jungle Boogie. These guys are back and jam packed with more boogie than may be possible in one night.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 24 at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, the show will be the release party for Wanyama’s new album “+1”. The 5 piece band was formed in 1998 in Cleveland, Ohio and since then has been catering to all elements of funk, reggae, jam, and an improv element that resonates with hip-hop. The result has been their own original sound that they call “Conscious Funk for the Mind”. No one knows exactly where Wanyama came from. Legend has it that they were picked up on our planets radar back in ‘98 in a National Enquirer article, that spoke of an unknown mutation of the human species being discovered in an abandoned warehouse in the industrial district of Cleveland,Ohio. It’s been twenty years since that article dropped and they’re still finding new ways into our eardrums, inevitably disrupting the sound waves.
Desert Dwellers
The band will be joined by Desert Dwellers, the psychedelic duo consisting of Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe as well as Dizgo, a four piece from Bloomington, IN.
Desert Dwellers have been killin the game since the 90’s, gaining the reputation as one of the most pioneering and prolific downtempo, psy-bass, and tribal trance acts in the United States. The duo has toured across six continents and spent seven weeks on the road with world renowned psychedelic artist, Shpongle. Combining sounds from the natural world with bass, percussion, and cross-cultural instrumentation, in many ways they have become a bridge between the worlds of dance and music.
Dizgo is a four piece jam band that formed in 2016. With a strong following across the Midwest, Dizgo has been making a name for themselves across the festival circuit. Their sound consists of funk, electronic rock, and a synth driven groove accompanied by vocals.
As if that wasn’t enough the night will also consist of a number of DJ sets from artists Bando, Blaak Mvtter, Broken Keys, Red Rose Panic, and many more! With two rooms to accommodate all your musical and dancing needs the night is sure to be one for the books. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Wanyama will also be giving out a free copy of “+1” to those that purchase a ticket.
Making the trek from Upstate NY this event is a no brainer. Only a 15 minute drive from the renowned Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and bordering the beautiful Lake Erie, Cleveland is without a doubt the spot, ready to serve up a weekend full of music in all of its forms.
